What "D-LITE"means in the MIURA 2 RS:
Intelligent design for maximum suitability for everyday use
With the D-LITE Series, SWING presents a generation of wings that combine the best of lightness and suitability for everyday use. Thanks to a carefully balanced mix of materials, the D-Lite Series is not only light and compact, but also suitable for everyday use and extended flying adventures.
Weight-optimized interior
- Reinforcements on profiles, V-parts and tension relief straps make the filigree structure particularly stable.
- The number and size of the crossports have been optimized depending on the load to achieve a perfect balance between weight saving and structural strength.
Innovative Nitinol wires
Strategically placed Nitinol reinforcements at the leading edge and in the upper sail guarantee simple and compact packing without compromising the profile fidelity. Nitinol is light, robust, dimensionally stable and particularly resistant to permanent deformation.
Sophisticated mix of materials
- Durable fabric material:
Used in areas subject to heavy wear (leading edge and load-bearing ribs) to ensure suitability for everyday use. - Lightweight materials:
Used in less stressed areas to reduce weight without sacrificing stability.
LIGHTER. JUST AS ROBUST.
Everyday practicality in perfect balance!
The D-LITE series was developed for active and versatile pilots who value comfort, flexibility and durability as well as performance. Whether thermal flying, XC adventures, hike & fly tours or traveling – with the D-LITE, every flight becomes a real "Delight"

Who is the MIURA 2 RS D-LITE for?
The MIURA concept was born from the idea of creating a high-performing entry-level intermediate wing with maximum safety reserves in the EN/LTF B category. This goal should be clearly reflected in the certification reports from independent testing authorities.
That’s why we decided to certify the MIURA 2 RS D-LITE twice: once as a base intermediate with all the performance benefits of the B class, and additionally as an A-class wing suitable for beginners when flown with a reduced speed system. The easily self-installable Speed Limiter allows you to switch between A and B class whenever needed.
This special feature makes the MIURA 2 RS D-LITE the ideal choice for ambitious leisure pilots and newly licensed pilots who want to take off right after training – whether it’s for hike & fly missions, traveling, or those first thermal and XC flights..

RAST - for maximum control

On paragliders with RAST the canopy is divided into different internal pressurised sections by one or more fabric panels, some with valves running crossways to the direction of flight. This makes it possible to influence the air flows within the canopy. With RAST, the air equalisation flows within the paraglider canopy can be regulated through defined openings. This applies both when filling,(during take-off) and when emptying. In the case of pressure loss, e.g. caused by canopy collapse in turbulent air, the relative internal pressure of the CORE section increases, while the BUFFER section absorbs the introduced energy by deformation. Furthermore, RAST can be used as an additional support to the leading and trailing edge, which has a positive effect on flight comfort. As RAST connects the ribs over the entire profile height, the construction has a stiffening effect and reinforcements and/or stiffening elements can be saved or even completely replaced by this special construction method.
The well-proven RAST-System is of course part of the MIURA 2 RS inner structure.
It gives the MIURA 2 RS the addition of stability and control and is responsible for its unique and comfortable RAST-feeling during takeoff and flight. The patented bulkhead partition with its valves helps to prevent big collapses and deformations, hence reducing the risk of uncontrolled flight patterns.
Smart D-LITE Construction
Lightweight build, smart reinforcement – D-LITE
For the MIURA 2 RS D-LITE, we use a carefully balanced material mix of 28 g STA10 Techfiber and 38 g Skytex by Porcher.
Durable fabric is used where loads are high, while lighter materials are applied in less stressed areas to save weight.
Reinforcements at profiles, V-parts, and load-relief straps give the internal structure targeted strength. The number and size of the crossports are also matched to the respective load zones – ensuring a well-balanced compromise between longevity and weight.
Even the loops were carefully designed: differently constructed and reinforced depending on load – for maximum efficiency.
The reduced Nitinol wires at the leading edge make packing easy and compact – without compromising profile stability.
This way, your MIURA 2 RS D-LITE remains fully capable in everyday use – so you can focus entirely on flying.
Speed-Limiter - EN B or schoolable EN A Glider
It takes just a few quick steps to limit speed system travel, turning the MIURA 2 RS into an A category glider that is suitable for learners. When training has been completed, it is just as easy to remove the limiter and enjoy the performance benefits of the B category. Thanks to high-quality accelerator pulleys with ball bearings, even long gliding passages can be mastered without getting tired.
Nitinol foils, the material with the shape memory as nose reinforcement.

Nitinol is a high-strength, temperature- and corrosion-resistant shape memory alloy. The name
Nitinol is an acronym for Nickel Titanium Naval Ordnance Laboratory.
This material is well-known in medical technology, and for a long time Swing has been using it as leading edge reinforcement in paraglider design, one of the first paraglider manufacturers to do so. For the MIURA 2 RS, the Nitinol reinforcements are inserted into nylon tubes. This meant that the cross-sectional area (and thus the contact area for the top surface material) could be increased without having to forego the positive features of the memory alloy (bend-resistance, length and dimensional stability).
Miniribs with 3D shaping and internal stitching

Ballooning on the trailing edge has a considerable influence on a paraglider’s control pressure and handling. That’s why, with the MIURA 2 RS, ballooning in this area was reduced to a minimum using 3D shaping, in addition to the tried and tested mini ribs. The trick here is that the mini ribs have internal stitching on the top surface so that none of the threads can get caught up on the ground and pulled out, even when launching in difficult terrain.
3D-Shaping - for optimised aerodynamics

The targeted control of tension by 3D shaping at the leading edge of the upper sail has become standard in paraglider construction. This is in order to make the airflow-relevant areas as crease-free as possible. Depending on the model, 3D shaping is either single or double in its construction. We have supplemented the standard shaping with another 3D shaping at the leading edge to optimize the aerodynamic effect of the miniribs.
Simple line concept - for good sortability
To ensure easy sorting of the lines and to keep the riser as clear as possible, all of the canopy’s line galleries are combined on just three riser levels. An intelligent line mix of state-of-the-art materials with only covered lines guarantees durability and length stability with minimal drag. All main lines in a line group (e.g. AI, BI, CI) are the same length. This makes trim control quick and easy.
To make it easier to reach the brake handles on sizes XS and S, we have shortened the length of the risers from 520 mm to 490 mm.
Colored Riser Connections - für minimierte Verwechslungsgefahr

To make it easier for you to prepare for the take-off, the hook-in loops and brake handles are color-coded. This allows you to see at a glance whether the risers are correctly attached to the harness.
